Message from the Founder

Hello, my name is Tetsuya Ide, the founder of chilloutdoor.
I was born and raised in Fujinomiya, at the foot of Mt. Fuji, where nature was always part of my everyday life. For over a decade, I worked in the outdoor industry, learning not only how to guide tours—but how powerful nature can be when shared with care.
At chilloutdoor, we believe outdoor experiences should offer more than just fun. They should move people’s hearts—and bring enrichment to guests, guides, local communities, and nature itself.
Another value we hold dear is our responsibility to preserve nature. Our tours are designed to minimize impact and leave the landscape just as we found it—so future generations can also enjoy these rivers and mountains.
Join us for a day of comfort, connection, and rediscovery—at the foot of Mt. Fuji.

🌿 Why We Operate Tours in Nature
Rooted in the Local Landscape
We choose to run our tours in the mountains and rivers where we were born and raised.
These are the landscapes we’ve known since childhood and have always cherished.
That’s why we never drill holes or install bolts that would cause irreversible changes to the natural environment.
No matter the location, we believe such methods are not sustainable.
Our tours are carefully designed to minimize our impact on nature.
We also value a humble approach rooted in the Japanese way of seeing nature—with deep respect, and a mindset of being allowed to “play” in the wild rather than taking it for granted.
Conservation-Based, Restorative Experiences
To ensure our guests can enjoy their time safely and comfortably, we work closely with local communities and prepare a responsible environment for all.
Our tours aim not only to offer excitement, but also to provide moments of healing and refreshment—for the body, mind, and soul.

📷 Fujikawa Free to Flow 2024
River lovers gathered from across Japan to stand up for rivers’ right to be free to flow. chill outdoor joined the movement as part of the organizing team.
Our Philosophy
We believe that every journey begins with a small moment of discovery.
That spark of curiosity inspires us to explore deeper—
And with each new step, we advance toward something greater.
Mt. Fuji: History of Fire & Water
Standing 3,776 meters tall, Mt. Fuji is Japan’s highest mountain—and one of its most sacred. Formed by a series of eruptions over hundreds of thousands of years, it is a still-active stratovolcano. But more than just a volcano, Mt. Fuji is a symbol of natural beauty, spiritual power, and geological wonder.
