Today we welcomed a family from the UK aboard the cruise ship Spectrum of the Seas 🇬🇧.
Seeing the ship in person is always impressive. With a capacity of nearly 6,000 guests and crew combined, it feels less like a cruise ship and more like a floating city. Sometimes it reminds me of a huge shopping mall moving across the ocean.
During the tour, we talked about life in Japan and the UK.
I mentioned that I like the UK and even joked about being a Beatles fan.
Their response was honest and funny. They said the weather is often rainy, some cities can feel dirty, and British food does not always have the best reputation.
What they loved about Japan was how peaceful everything felt.
The clean environment, good food, and relaxed atmosphere made a strong impression on them.
Because it was a weekday, places like Lake Tanuki were especially quiet.
At their request, we also visited Makaino Farm, where they could enjoy wide open views of Mt. Fuji and the countryside.
Days like this remind me that many visitors are not only looking for famous landmarks.
Sometimes they are simply looking for a peaceful place to slow down, breathe fresh air, and enjoy nature.
The southwest side of Mt. Fuji still offers many opportunities for that kind of experience, and I am always grateful to be able to share it with visitors from around the world.
