The day before, I received a very last minute message.
Due to bad weather, a cruise ship made an emergency stop at Shimizu Port. It was not originally scheduled to arrive here.
The crew from contacted me, saying their guests had no tour options available because everything had been arranged for another port. They asked if I could help guide them during this unexpected stop.

It rained all day, and the guests were older. I had also been told in advance that they preferred a relaxed pace rather than an active tour.
So instead of walking a lot, we explored the area by car, enjoyed a scenic drive, and stopped at a local tea shop to spend some quiet time.

This kind of flexible experience is only possible with local knowledge and private transportation.
Without being tied to large bus tours, we were able to adjust the plan and still create a meaningful day despite the weather.
Even when plans change unexpectedly, having a flexible local option can make all the difference during a cruise stop.
