Today’s hike to the Hoei Crater was a day of almost zero visibility.
No views of Mt. Fuji.
No distant landscapes.
Just a world of white mist stretching in every direction.
But that does not mean it was disappointing.
Sometimes the mountain offers a completely different kind of beauty.
The fresh green larch trees emerging from the fog and swaying gently in the wind created a mysterious atmosphere that felt almost unreal.
In weather like this, the mountain becomes quieter.
The usual scenery disappears, and small details begin to stand out—the sound of the wind, the texture of volcanic rocks, and the vibrant colors of new growth against the white background.
Sometimes, as the wind shifted, the summit of Mt. Fuji briefly appeared through the mist.
Just for a few moments, then it disappeared again.
Maybe that is what makes it so special.
When Mt. Fuji is visible all day, it is certainly beautiful. But when it keeps you waiting and only reveals itself for a few seconds, the feeling is completely different.
To be honest, I forgot to take a photo.
I was too busy simply enjoying the moment.
Every day on Mt. Fuji is different.
Some days offer grand panoramic views, while others reveal a softer and more intimate side of nature.
Today was one of those special days where the mist itself became part of the experience.
